7 Questions to Ask Before Enrolling Your Child in Any Online Class

Choosing online classes for kids is a decision worth slowing down for. A few honest questions before you enroll can save months of a subscription your child never actually uses. Here are the seven we'd want answered if we were the parent.

1. Are the classes live, or pre-recorded videos?

A video library is cheap to produce and easy to sell, but a child who gets stuck has nowhere to turn. Live instruction, even in a small group, makes the difference between a course finished and one abandoned.

2. Is the curriculum actually age-appropriate?

3. Can you actually see progress?

"Trust us, they're learning" isn't good enough. Ask if there's a parent-facing way to check missions completed, quiz scores, or any concrete measure of progress.

4. Is there a free trial?

Any programme confident in its teaching should let you and your child try a class before committing to a full term.

5. What will my child actually have built by the end?

A vague answer like "coding skills" isn't specific enough. Look for a concrete deliverable: a game, a website, a trained AI model, a portfolio piece.

6. How are multiple children in one family handled?

If you have more than one child, ask whether registering additional siblings is simple, or whether you'll be re-entering the same information repeatedly.

7. What happens after the course ends?

Does the programme lead anywhere: a next course, a real skill pathway, or does it just stop?
